JuJu Smith-Schuster’s fiancée finds silver lining in fight after Chiefs vs Lions game

Following a heated postgame altercation between Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster and Detroit Lions defensive back Brian Branch, Smith-Schuster’s fiancée, Laura Kruk, took to TikTok to put a lighthearted spin on the situation.

In the viral post, Kruk celebrated the Chiefs’ 30-17 victory with a playful dance alongside Smith-Schuster, joking in the caption: “No broken nose and a CHIEFS WIN.” Despite the intensity of the postgame clash, Kruk was clearly relieved her fiancé came away relatively unscathed — and their wedding photos wouldn’t need rescheduling.

The scuffle erupted moments after the game ended, when Branch reportedly refused to shake hands with quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Instead, he charged toward Smith-Schuster and shoved his helmet. Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco quickly intervened as Smith-Schuster fell to the ground. The wide receiver bounced back up to confront Branch, and tensions escalated as players from both teams stepped in.

Speaking out after the game, Smith-Schuster addressed the incident:

“He’s a great player, he’s huge for the team,” Smith-Schuster told The New York Post. “I think after the game I expected to shake his hand and say good game and move past it, but he threw a punch. At the end of the day, it’s a team sport. We came out here, did our job and won, and that’s all that matters.”

Branch, for his part, publicly apologized for his actions in multiple interviews, acknowledging his behavior was inappropriate.

“I’m tired of people doing stuff in between plays and refs don’t catch it. They be trying to bully me out there,” he said, as reported by CBS Sports. “I shouldn’t have did it, it was childish.”

He went on to explain that he felt provoked during the game:

“I got blocked in the back illegally, and it was in front of the ref and the ref didn’t do anything… But I should’ve never did it. It was childish. There was a lot of stuff, but I should have showed it between the whistles, not after the game. I apologize for that,” Branch added in a People report.

While tempers flared on the field, the Chiefs celebrated one of their most decisive wins of the season — and thanks to Kruk’s sense of humor, the mood off the field stayed lighthearted for the newly engaged couple.
